Mechatronics Technician
Job Summary: Southland Steel Fabricators, a leading provider of high-quality steel fabrication services, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechatronics Technician to join our team in Greensburg, LA. This full-time, on-site position is responsible for the installation and preventative maintenance of our automated machinery and robotics, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.

Education:

  • Minimum of an Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechatronics, automation, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated machinery and robotics

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software used in troubleshooting automated systems

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a factory environment with exposure to loud noises, dust, and varying temperatures

Responsibilities:

Installation:

  • Install, set up, and test automated machinery and robotic systems.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and configured to meet production requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to integrate new equipment into existing systems.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all automated machinery and robotics.
  • Conduct regular inspections, cleanings, and lubrication of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Identify potential issues and perform repairs to prevent equipment failure.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in automated machinery and robotic systems.
  • Perform timely repairs and replacements of defective components to minimize production downtime.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to pinpoint issues and ensure accurate repairs.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Prepare reports on equipment status, maintenance schedules, and any issues encountered.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in mechatronics, automation, and robotics.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of automated systems.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to further develop technical skills.
