Description:
MDS Media Engineer position
This role constitutes providing engineering services on tiers 1 and 2 level for the smooth running of linear playout platforms across the world. Based in Singapore, support will be provided by the Distribution Specialists team (MDS) team remotely for issue triage, troubleshooting and escalation for On-Air services, playout servers, infrastructure, networks, workflows and supporting equipment across various datacenters in APAC, Middle East and EMEA. The engineer will also be responsible for Conditional Access System 1st line checking and troubleshooting.
Engineer is expected to maintain basic knowledge of broadcast tools and equipment, including audio and video troubleshooting techniques, encoding, transmission and file storage understanding. He or she is also expected to possess decent network troubleshooting and cloud technology knowledge.
Be able to provide comprehensive fault reporting and tracking. Document and ensure all incidents are closed and provided with consistent close-out ticket details. Provide analysis for process and workflow improvement where required.
As a media engineer, you will provide the following:
- Manage playout systems and distribution, involve in the troubleshooting, resolution, and escalation where necessary, while undertaking communication and ticketing of all reported technical issues.
- The support role provided is round-the-clock all year round, hence working on rotating shifts is required.
- Constantly add value to business by keeping outages to the minimum possible duration.
- Work in collaboration with other engineers (SMEs) on issues, maintenance, skillset enhancement and projects where needed.
- Continuously review playout operational workflows to ensure maximum efficiency and improvement.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Has previous experience (minimum 2 years) related to Broadcast Operation or Engineering.
- Knowledge related to content workflow, media formats, media transport methods and networking troubleshooting for media infrastructure and distribution.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Great team player.
Additional Information
- This support role requires the engineer to work in a NOC room based in Eclipse building Singapore. The job consists of working in rotational 12-hour shifts.
