Job Description
The UK Media Relations team is responsible for strengthening and protecting Vattenfall’s reputation, and increasing understanding of Vattenfall’s strategy in the UK. Working closely with Vattenfall Group communications, based in Sweden, as well as business units in the UK, the Media Relations team implements proactive communications strategies using news and digital media channels.
We are looking for an experienced media/public relations officer to cover a 12-month maternity leave.

Responsibilities:

You will support the development and implementation of the UK media relations strategy, with a particular responsibility for digital media and content.
The role will involve working with media, public affairs and various business areas to ensure communications activity supports Vattenfall’s business in the UK.

Reporting to the Director of UK Media Relations, you will:

  • Proactively find opportunities to communicate using news and digital channels.
  • Plan and execute comms activity aligned to a longer-term strategy.
  • Pitch news and digital stories – including using engaging content.
  • Pitch media interviews and brief Vattenfall spokespeople for print/online and broadcast interviews.
  • Write and publish news releases and coordinate media statements with relevant stakeholders.
  • Handle media enquiries and shape crisis management.
  • Advise UK business units on media relations activity which supports Vattenfall’s overall strategy.
