Description:

SYLVIA YOUNG THEATRE SCHOOL IS LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED AND PASSIONATE MEDIA STUDIES TEACHER TO JOIN OUR UNIQUE SCHOOL

The successful individual will need to be confident to teach Media Studies across Key Stage 4. You will have secure subject and curriculum knowledge. You will plan and teach well structured lessons that respond to the strengths and needs of all students. Media Studies is a very popular GCSE in our school. Our class sizes are small.
We are a unique school in many ways as we have a 3 day academic curriculum and a 2 day vocational curriculum, however all our students still complete 8-9 GCSE subjects in Year 11 alongside their vocational curriculum.
The role is currently 2 days a week and based in school, although there is the possibility for this to be 3 days a week if you are able to teach another subject. The days for this academic year are Tuesday and Wednesday, although this could be altered in the future. Due to the structure of the academic curriculum in our school which only runs on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday there is no flexibility to change these days to a Thursday or Friday.
We welcome applications from candidates with experience gained from either the independent or state secondary sector, with no preference for a particular one.
This role is not suitable for an ECT.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about teaching Media Studies. You will be a team player, flexible, organised, hard working and committed to enabling children to flourish. All our teachers are role models who have high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge students. They all demonstrate consistent high standards of personal and professional conduct and lead by example.
