Description:

The Medical Advisor (MAdv) is an office-based role which demonstrates mastery and innovation in the ability to develop ongoing professional relationships with national and regional healthcare key experts and with the internal cross functional teams to drive medical initiatives and provide medical and scientific support for Daiichi Sankyo company objectives focusing on Lung and GI Cancer. The MAdv will work closely with internal colleagues (Medical, Marketing, and Sales), healthcare professionals (HCPs) and decision-makers as a medical and scientific expert in alignment with brand strategy. The activities will focus on products and services developed by Daiichi Sankyo and marketed in Switzerland. The MAdv maximizes company product value through high scientific quality engagements with leading specialists on a peer-to-peer basis. Through activities in line with the medical affairs plan, the MAdv is jointly responsible for the realization of short-term and long-term company goals. The MAdv will report to the Head of Medical Affairs. This role has no line management responsibilities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • A solid and proven scientific background with a university degree, preferably in human medicine, pharmacy or a PhD in Natural Sciences.
  • Experience working as MSL (at least 3 years), preferentially as well as MAdv, clinical research or similar role where there is strong evidence of gaining HCPs insight and providing medical input into brand strategy
  • Good understanding of Oncology preferably in Lung Cancer
  • Good knowledge and experience in managing scientific studies and medical projects
  • Understanding of the Swiss Healthcare System and the pharmaceutical industry and Pharma Codex (PK)/ Pharma Cooperation Codex (PKK)
  • Understanding of local and ideally EU regulations e.g. GVP, GCP, GDP
  • Demonstrated ability to write scientific publications
  • Good knowledge and experience of clinical trial methodology and statistical methods preferred
  • Experience in assigned Disease Areas
  • Innovative approaches to managing external customers and internal partners
  • Knowledge of key markets research terms and modes of analysis
  • Preferentially knowledge of pricing issues and experience of contribution to HTA dossiers
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office software products

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates development of Medical Plan and Strategy in collaboration with Head of Medical Affairs and MSLs and in alignment with Marketing, Commercial and Market Access teams:
  • Develops national Key Engagement plan/strategy for top KEEs and key activities in line with the medical plan and MSLs
  • Overviews and keeps track of the local medical budget
  • Supports MSL in their field planning and execution
  • Represents medical in the brand team and supports the development of Brand Plans in collaboration with Marketing and Market Access
  • Contributes the development of the regulatory and value dossier as required and advise the brand team on medical topics
  • Coordinates contract processes with Medical Assistant for national non-HCP related activities (MSLs coordinate contract process with HCPs)
  • Advises and provides scientific support to customer facing functions and conducts internal trainings to keep them updated on clinical data and scientific insights for Field readiness:
  • Guides and advise MSLs in their medical education/training
  • Assists Medical Head for the training of medical and non-medical personnel
  • Contributes to activities which increase team spirit and to a high performing team
  • Ensures operational Field readiness with MSLs
  • Develops Medical engagements strategies and communication across the scientific community:
  • Prepares and develops medical communication strategy to support infield medical communication by MSL, including pipeline, research and development programs and other relevant information
  • Coordinates and prioritizes national medical communication (e.g. congress data) based on medical need and medical plan
  • Provides Medical information as needed
  • Is contact person for specific MSC/ DSE projects
  • Supports the development and implementation of clinical trials and registries as planned by the Medical team at a local stage:
  • Supports and manages clinical activities and strategy, in close cooperation with RSEM and CROs as needed
  • Advances local and regional evidence generation projects as appropriate
  • Represents contact person for DS clinical trial operation
  • Is responsible for material for infield use based on MSL needs and requirements (e.g. key slide kits, reprints, flyer, Roll-ups, etc) and contributes to the creation/adaptation of promotional materials as needed
  • Liaises with thought leaders and medical centers to enhance acceptance and advocacy of Daiichi Sankyo contributions to advancing medical practice (products, evidence and services) within the scientific community:
  • Visits key accounts and key external experts as needed/requested by the MSL in relation to medical/scientific questions/projects concerning the molecule/product
  • Initiates and executes national medical and scientific education events (e.g. Satellite Symposia, CMEs etc.)
  • Leads congress management in cooperation with other MAdv
  • Coordinates planning of national Advisory Boards in alignment with the Medical Plan and identified need and knowledge and insight gaps
  • Engages and builds relationship with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAG) in alignment with Medical Plan
  • Processes Insights and continuously engages to improve Daiichi Sankyo capabilities building scientific knowledge and gathering competitive intelligence to enable effective decision-making, customer engagement and brand performance:
  • Collects, evaluates and sorts infield insights received by MSL in a structure way to support development and adaption of Medical Plan
  • Consolidates and identifies key insights generated and knowledge gaps to guide future medical strategy and planning
  • Conducts all activities in accordance with the applicable laws, rules and regulations
