Description:
October 2024 cohort
MA Apprentices will observe and perform individualized patient procedures, treatments, and tests under the supervision of an Apprenticeship Coach as required by state apprenticeship program standards. Perform associated clerical tasks including chart preparation, stocking clinic supplies, and answering telephones. Provide assistance with medical clinic operations and monitoring of clinic flow. Perform other duties as assigned and maintain progress in all aspects of the apprenticeship program as required by state apprenticeship standards.
NOTE: The state-registered apprenticeship program combines on-the-job training with online coursework to prepare participants to take the national certification exam. Under this program, individuals will work as MA Apprentices for approximately one year, during which they will complete 2000 hours of on-the-job training while also progressing in online coursework. As they complete required on-the-job hours, apprentices will observe, practice, and achieve mastery of core MA skills under the direction of a supervisor or Apprenticeship Coach. Apprentices will also complete online coursework and skills labs outside of work to supplement and support on-the-job learning. Participants will be registered with the state as MA Apprentices and satisfy all requirements as outlined in state Program Standards.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
