Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Medical Assistant certification from and accredited education institution preferred or one-year experience in the field is required
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential and able to work independently.
    General Summary: Medical Assistant job is to help clients by providing information, services, and assistance. Other duties include securing medical records; maintaining medical supplies inventory; performing preventive maintenance to keep equipment operating.

Responsibilities:

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Taking medical histories
  • Obtain blood pressure, height, weight, temperature and glucose monitoring
  • Complete Covid Testing via nasopharyngeal and nasal swabs on staff and clients
  • Maintain inventory of stock office supplies
  • Assist nursing staff with chart audit reviews
  • Verifying insurance and assisting with prior authorizations
  • Assist with EMR transition, filing and uploading of client records
  • Preparing clients for examination and assisting physicians during exams
  • Collecting laboratory specimens and completing EKG’s
  • Assist in observing clients consume medication during sick call times
  • Keep supplies ready by inventory stock
  • Secure patient information and maintain confidentiality
  • Provide direct supervision and support to clients on the unit when needed
  • Maintain high visibility in client areas to provide structure and supervision
  • Assist in maintaining safety and cleanliness of the facility
  • Introduce self to all new clients on their first day on the unit and inform them of your role on the unit
  • Have thorough knowledge of the clients’ handbook
  • Be knowledgeable and able to perform new client admission process
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification active
  • Assist with answering telephones in a professional manner
  • Updated and filing clients medical records
  • Scheduling Appointments and follow ups
  • Call or fax prescriptions to the pharmacy
  • Maintain temperature log of medication room refrigerators

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Workweek will consist of scheduled shifts by your supervisor (shifts are 8 hours) work per day including one hour for lunch or 30 minutes for lunch and two 15 minute breaks. Follow Straight & Narrow policy.
  • Punch in/out on the employee hand recognition time clock and ensure that all staff on unit follows this procedure.
  • Notify supervisor, prior to shift if unable to work due to sickness or personal emergency.
  • Submit Employee Absence Report to supervisor on day of return to work after taking one or more sick day(s) via Paylocity
  • Schedule Personal Time Off (PTO) in advance, at least 30 days via Paylocity
  • Know and enforce Straight & Narrow’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure Policy and Procedure for Critical Incident Reporting is followed when indicated.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing scenarios and situations on the fly
  • Being a team player that works fluidly with patients, families and interdisciplinary healthcare teams every step of the way

  • Must possess a caring and compassionate attitude with those whom may be struggling with recovery
  • Participate in discharge planning and preparation (of clients) in conjunction with counseling/clinical staff.
  • Increase knowledge of treatment and client issues by attending and participating in staff development in-service sessions
  • Complete all Straight & Narrow’s annually required trainings for staff.
  • Attend in-service and other trainings, staff meetings and supervision as scheduled.
  • Attend all meetings of CQI subcommittees of which you are a member and actively participate.
  • Take responsibility for keeping Personnel file updated with regard to filing any new degrees or certificates, getting immunizations/medical test as required and keeping any licenses and/or certificates current.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary or as assigned by a member of Straight & Narrow’s Administration.
  • Review Company E-mail frequently during your shift
