Description:
We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Biller in the healthcare industry, located in Salinas, California. The role involves managing and processing customer medical billing in a hospital and social assistance setting.
Responsibilities:
- Audit patient bills for accuracy and completeness, acquiring any missing information if necessary.
- Process and post revenue payments and charges to patients’ accounts and insurance providers.
- Validate insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
- Obtain necessary authorizations and verify eligibility and payer benefits.
- Prepare, review, and transmit claims using both automated systems and manual paper claim processes.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within a specified billing cycle timeframe.
- Evaluate and investigate payer matters for any discrepancies in payments.
- Identify and bill secondary payers.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of insurance guidelines, including HMO, PPO, Medicare, and state Medicaid.
- Conduct follow-ups on all accounts with payer or patient.
- Solid understanding and experience with Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
- Proficiency in medical billing procedures and relevant software
- Familiarity with billing systems and regulations in the healthcare industry
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Strong customer service skills to handle patient billing inquiries
- Prior experience in a similar role within the healthcare, hospitals, or social assistance industry would be beneficial.
