JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our plastic surgery team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding patient diagnoses and procedures related to burn and reconstructive plastic surgery, managing medical records, and ensuring timely billing processes. Your expertise in medical terminology and coding systems will be essential in facilitating efficient healthcare operations and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-5 years proven experience in medical billing and coding, with a strong understanding of ICD-10, ICD-9, medical terminology, and coding systems.
• Familiarity with medical office operations and procedures related to billing and collections.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for reviewing complex medical records.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong communication skills for effectively interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
• Certification in Medical Billing or Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is preferred but not required.

  Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
  Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday

Work Location: Hybrid remote in San Antonio, TX 7822

• Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, ICD-9, and other relevant coding systems.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payment.
• Manage medical collections by communicating with patients regarding their accounts and resolving billing discrepancies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and billing regulations to ensure compliance with healthcare laws.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation that may affect coding accuracy.
• Assist in the maintenance of electronic medical records (EMR) systems to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
• Provide support in training new staff on medical billing processes and coding practices as needed.
