POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Director, is accountable to the Chief of Mental Health and Addictions to provide clinical leadership within defined medical services. This includes leadership in the establishment and alignment of clinical standards for client care within a defined service area in consultation with other leaders within the Mental Health and Addictions division.
The Medical Director and the program Director, along with the Program Manager share responsibility for the quality of care, safety of clients and staff with the Medical Director holding primary responsibility for the oversight of the practice of medical personnel within a defined clinical portfolio. In collaboration with the Program Director and Program Manager, the Medical Director is accountable for the establishment and implementation of service-specific action plans and activities that align with the Community and Clinical Health division plan, the strategic plan and the vision, mission and values of the Care Group. Care and services are delivered within a client-centred care model.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience and 1 year of administrative/leadership experience would be preferred
• Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking and system-focused decision-making
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and change management skills
