ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Bankstown Hospital is seeking a motivated, passionate and highly skilled Medical Education & Support Officer to support a busy team.
Bringing your maturity and previous experience to the role, you will be a highly skilled administrator who can efficiently and effectively manage a diverse workload. We are seeking someone who displays high levels of professionalism and can take initiative and problem solve in an independent manner. The role is suited to someone who can think outside the square and bring their knowledge and ideas to the role to improve the overall performance of the team.
You will be responsible for cost effective, fair and equitable rostering for Network 2/Prevocational Trainees (PGY1 & PGY2) through the HealthRoster system and ensure best rostering practices are followed. The role will require you to manage and process the Prevocational Trainees payroll, ensuring accurate data entry in HealthRoster and verification of hours paid occurs, with audits regularly undertaken. Having a comprehensive knowledge of relevant industrial awards, legislatives requirements, and policies and procedures at District and State level is required as well as timely and accurate provision of advice on such matters to staff.

Responsibilities:

The Medical Education & Support Officer (MESO) – Junior Medical Staff will assist the Directors of Prevocational Education and Training (DPETs) in the development, coordination and evaluation of education for Network 2/Prevocational Trainees (interns & PGY2 medical officers).
Working with the DPETs, the MESO will provide support to Prevocational Trainees as per the HETI framework and requirements. They will also ensure that JMO’s well-being is fostered in line with the NSW Health JMO wellbeing and support plan.
The MESO will also be responsible for the management and administration of the payroll of the Network 2/Prevocational Trainees at Bankstown – Lidcombe Hospital. This involves the development and implementation of the payroll function, updating HealthRoster and fostering positive relationships with medical staff, facilitating prevocational training, and communication with various other agencies, including the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI), the Medical Board of Australia, Medical Colleges, and other government agencies.
In addition, the MESO will work closely with the JMO Manager and provide administrative support to ensure that the prevocational trainees have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality and safe patient care.
