Further additional training may also be required to be undertaken as identified by the National Medical Examiners Office in order to fulfil the role.
The Medical Examiner will act as an independent reviewer of patient deaths, to ensure referrals to the coroner are appropriate, to review the Medical Certificates of Cause of Death (MCCDs) and liaise with the doctor or senior team members regarding the cause of death offered.
