We serve approximately 30,000 Northumberland, Peterborough and Hastings County residents, as well as a large seasonal population of cottagers and tourists. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New grads welcome
  • Two years of experience as a Medical Laboratory in a hospital setting preferred
  • Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) registration
  • Current CMLTO license
  • Possesses and continually acquires knowledge relevant to the profession
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, Epic and Microsoft office an asset
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize duties
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with patients, staff and physicians

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Performs investigative procedures through detailed analysis, assay and examination of specimens
  • Performs testing within the disciplines of Chemistry; Transfusion Medicine; Hematology; Microbiology; Specimen Collection and Cardiac Testing
  • Practices in accordance with the provincial regulations set out by the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO); hospital policy and procedures
  • Is knowledgeable of, and follows the quality management processes
  • Reports quality issues to technical director and senior MLT responsible for quality management
  • Supports and actively participates in quality improvement activities to facilitate change in the workplace
  • Assures that critical results are communicated to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner
  • Assesses and prioritizes workload
  • Other related duties as assigned
