Description:

Steward Medical Group at Hawthorn Medical Associates is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated full-time Medical Office Specialist Lead to join our busy Obstetrics and Gynecology department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently, ensuring optimal use of physician schedules.
  • Manage referral processes and follow up on patient no-shows to maintain continuity of care.
  • Triage incoming calls appropriately while managing a multi-line phone system, demonstrating courteous phone manners.
  • Assist with patient check-out processes, ensuring a smooth transition for patients leaving the office.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow employees and providers across all departments to integrate activities and enhance patient care.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative demeanor towards patients, visitors, co-workers, and providers.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of prior experience as a medical secretary or in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Athena, is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with various insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations, plans, and referral procedures is strongly preferred.
