ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

If you are an experienced medical secretary looking for a new and exciting challenge, then we would love to hear from you.

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong audio- and touch-typing skills.
  • Administrative experience and good organisation skills.;
  • Proficiency in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system;
  • Ideally have experience within a GP practice.
  • Ability to ‘think on your feet’;
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach;
  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times;
  • Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure;
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being comfortable working independently.

Responsibilities:

Suffolk Primary Care has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary at the Derby Road Practice to join their team on a part-time basis, for 25 hours per week, to provide secretarial and administrative support to the team and ensure the administrative burden for clinicians and team members is minimised.

The main duties include:

  • Provide an efficient audio (rarely used now)/copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, etc. in an accurate & quality manner.
  • Action referrals on SystmOne via tasks, ensuring forms have been completed correctly and sending them either by email or via e-Referrals.
  • Establish and maintain filing & administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
  • Retrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical/insurance records.
  • Receive incoming & initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
  • Maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate & secure manner.
  • Provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • Liaise with the clerk responsible, maintain adequate supplies of office stationery in order to perform your secretarial duties.
  • Receive and dispatch mail maintain a pending system.
