Job Description:
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Medical Technologist in the Neo-Antigen BioBank.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or related field from an accredited college or university
- At least one year experience of hands-on laboratory work handling biological specimens and cells, although two years prior lab experience is preferred
- Knowledge and training in sterile or aseptic technique
- Experience and ability to perform procedures in laminar flow hood and/or biological safety hood.
- Knowledge and ability to use automated and conventional laboratory equipment
- Ability to work with clinical research coordinators, research nurses, and surgeons to ensure proper receiving of surgically resected tumor specimens in a timely manner
- Ability to create and/or maintain a tissue receiving, processing, and biobanking log
- Knowledge or training in tumor tissue dissection, T lymphocytes isolation from resected tumor tissue, tissue culture, and tissue preparation for cryopreservation and/or shipping is required
- Knowledge or training in DNA isolation and single cell RNA sequencing is preferred
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with individuals at all levels
- Certification or eligibility as medical technologist, (MT) or specialist in chemistry (SC) or hematology (SH) through American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent
