Stonehenge Therapeutic Community provides a range of residential and community-based treatment services to individuals struggling with addiction and concurrent mental health issues. Stonehenge’s Residential program is a Therapeutic Community, which is a group-based, highly structured, and powerful treatment approach to substance use recovery. At our Residential center, we work with adult individuals with a history of chronic or acute substance abuse concerns, with or without co-occurring mental health diagnosis. Many of the individuals we work with also have current or previous involvement with the correctional system.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a University Degree relevant to mental health, addiction, or Social Services
- Minimum one year of progressive experience in addictions or mental health; experience in concurrent disorders or trauma informed practice an asset
- Previous experience in residential treatment an asset
- Previous experience with justice-involved individuals preferred
- Previous experience in correctional field an asset
- Food Handlers Certification an asset
- Previous experience facilitating medications and working with opioid agonist therapy
- Lived experience related to addictions and/or mental health an asset
- Valid G Driver’s License (G2 or greater), with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record
- Mandatory on call duty, on a rotational basis
- CSC Clearance conducted by PWGS Canada
- Standard First Aid/CPR Level C
- Access to a reliable vehicle/own transportation – not on a bus route
- Must be able to attend work (travel to Residential Centres) within an hour of notification when on call
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Medications Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are the coordination and facilitation of all physical health related needs of the residents. Additionally, the Medications Coordinator will support with ensuring the Therapeutic Community model is upheld at all times by providing in the moment feedback to staff and residents.
Role Type: Full Time, Contract (Approx. 6 months)
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Medical Coordination
Coordinate and ensure health care for residents experiencing issues/crises that interfere with their treatment program:
- Work with OTN Nurse to facilitate on-site resident health care needs
- Respond to individual medical requests/crises by liaising with OTN Nurse and arranging/scheduling appointments with physicians, psychiatrists, dentists etc.
- Liaise with physicians and pharmacy to facilitate ordering of medication and replenishment of first aid kit supplies
- Oversee safe storage of medications and maintain medication protocols
- Provide transportation for residents to appointments with various community partners
- Make referrals to internal and/or external programs or services, as appropriate
- Provide assistance to residents to overcome barriers to secure health care (i.e. Ontario Works drug card, Health Card replacement, approval of medical coverage by corrections)
- Support medication and OAT needs related to planned/unplanned resident discharges
- Provide mental health and crisis support
- Transport clients to appointments and other needs
- Provide peer mentorship and coaching to the team
- Conduct/inform staff briefing between shifts
Training and Group Facilitation
- Facilitate psycho-educational OAT group
- Participate in Orientation of staff in regard to medications and Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT)
Administration
- Review all resident urinalysis results received from external testing facility and flag all medication discrepancies to the appropriate Primary Counsellor and Clinical Manager – Residential Services
- Checks medication records
- Complete files/records and necessary paperwork
- Attend both clinical and administrative meetings
- Attend all training as required
- On a rotational basis, provide on call services during evenings and weekends
- Provide light housekeeping
- Additional responsibilities as required
