Description:
Applications are invited to undertake the role of Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist for Immunology, Immunoglobulins, and High Cost Medicines.
This is a key position within the Medicines Optimisation team to ensure the safe, effective, economic and timely use of immunoglobulins across the Trust and lead the management and monitoring of the MFT Sub-Regional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel (SrIAP).
You will also support the medicines optimisation team in the introduction of medicines onto the Trust formulary through liaison with medical and pharmacy clinical teams for the benefit of patients.
You will need to have excellent communication, organisational, analytical and presentation skills.
To lead the development, management and monitoring of the MFT Sub-Regional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel (SrIAP) in conjunction with the lead clinician(s) and coordinator in line in line with the Trust Action plan and National targets.
Lead on medication safety initiatives, clinical audit, teaching programmes, and the development of documents and eLearning packages for medical, nursing and pharmacy staff involving treatment with immunoglobulins.
To operate as professional secretary to the Sub-Regional and trust IAPs.
Support the processing of treatment requests to and the recording of decisions, in liaison with the panel coordinator.

To oversee the development of the pathway to ensure patients are discussed at the MFT - SrIAP.
To oversee the creation of and present the minimum dataset report required to enable patients to be discussed at the panel.
Communicate with clinicians from MFT and panel member trusts to obtain treatment data and efficacy outcome measures for immunoglobulin treatment.
Support the process of appeals against decisions made by the MFT-SrIAP.
To ensure that the use of Ig is managed according to National and trust guidelines.

Medicines Optimisation
To liaise with the leads for clinical teams to ensure the appropriate managed entry of new medicines into the Trust including appropriate funding routes in line with National and Local commissioner contracts.
To support the production, co-ordination and management of the horizon scanning information for new medicines, liaising with senior clinical pharmacists and clinicians.
To support the introduction of NICE TA approved and other nationally approved medicines into the Trust in line with local and national guidance and associated Medicines Management Committee implementation issues.
High Cost Medicines
TO SUPPORT THE MFT LEAD MEDICINES OPTIMISATION PHARMACISTS IN:
Managing the process for the reimbursement of high cost medicines for the Trust.
The provision of information to clinicians and senior pharmacists on the process of managing high cost medicines including PbR drug - excluded medicines in their specialties including the use of systems like Blueteq.
Ensuring the appropriate use of PbR excluded medicines .
