ABOUT US

The Saskatchewan Pension Plan (SPP), located in Kindersley, SK, was created in 1986 and is a fully funded, capital accumulation plan created by the provincial government. SPP provides a professionally managed pension plan at low fees to individuals with little or no access to employer-sponsored pensions. SPP has over $850M in assets under management and over 32,000 members.

THE OPPORTUNITY

SPP is seeking a well-organized, member-focused and efficient individual to join its member service team in the Member Service Officer position. Reporting to the Senior Member Service Officer, the Member Service Officer is responsible for anticipating and providing advanced technical pension knowledge and solve complex (escalated) solutions for a broad range of stakeholders as it relates to applicable legislation. This position is a direct resource for the business development team, from the member service perspective, in the onboarding of new employer plans, employees and individuals requiring answers to technical knowledge and plan regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • overseeing the processing of active member accounts including daily processing of cash mail, data entry of contribution and member information;
  • receiving, analyzing, authorizing and processing transfer-in requests;
  • planning and coordinating the execution of account maintenance for all individual, employee and employer members;
  • pre-authorized payment reconciliations;
  • provides oversight for organization and retention of member files;
  • preparation of accounts for payout on death of a participant;
  • reviews documents to ensure requests are within SPP legislation and regulatory authority;
  • responds and provides counselling to member queries by phone/letter/fax/email;
  • tests new system program changes and changes to existing programs;
  • ensures service standards and quality control measures are met; and
  • updates procedures manual for the position after procedures are approved.
    As our successful candidate you will have strong attention to detail and demonstrate proactive document and process management. You bring a solid understanding of the regulatory environment along with effective communication skills.
    The successful candidate requires knowledge of business, accounting and human resources and at least five years’ progressively responsible experience. This knowledge is normally obtained through two years of technical school training in a business certificate or business diploma program. Completion of the mutual fund license or operations course offered by IFSE is a requirement for the position.
    The successful candidate shall be subject to a Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
