The Wokingham Older Adult Mental Health Service is looking for an enthusiastic, caring and highly motivated assistant practitioner to join our friendly and innovative Memory Clinic Team.
The post holder will have two years’ experience in mental health services. It is highly desirable that you have experience in working with patients living with dementia. NVQ 3 or equivalent would be desirable and or a willingness to complete further training where required.
This role will be primarily office based; however, we do work flexibly to meet service needs both from the office and remotely.
The post holder will support and enhance the delivery of care for patients assessed in the Wokingham Memory Clinic. This may include cognitive testing, post diagnostic support and any other needs identified by the service.
With training and support the post holder will be required to support the planning, administration and delivery and record keeping of a variety of group work including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy.
You will also be expected to support the wider service where there are service needs.
The post holder will work with each service user and their significant others to develop and where possible improve therapeutic relationships between themselves and the Wokingham Memory Clinic.

Responsibilities:

  • Two years’ experience in mental health services
  • Experience in therapeutic group work
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Empathy and passion for working with older adults
  • Valid UK licence with the ability to travel in a timely manner between work bases and community settings, including transporting patients where required. (public transport would not be suitable)
