How you make a difference:
The Mental Health Director provides clinical and administrative oversight for the Mental Health program and the Mental Health staff within the facility as well as consultation regarding the mental health program. They also provide clinical supervision and direction to Mental Health Professionals. They provide mental health services consistent with expectations of professional training and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, supervise, and coordinate clinical services for mental health staff, ensuring compliance with policies, accreditation standards, and patient safety initiatives, while maintaining open communication with institutional staff.
  • Provide clinical supervision, professional education, and staff development, including training, on-boarding, and disciplinary counseling, ensuring staff competency and ethical performance.
  • Oversee and implement evidence-based treatment programs, mental health treatment planning, activity therapy, and substance use disorder programs, ensuring proper clinical documentation and participation in Quality Improvement Programs.
  • Conduct staff selection and recruitment, supervise clerical support staff, manage inventory and supplies, and ensure on-call mental health consultation services for crisis intervention.
  • Collaborate with the site Psychiatrist for crisis intervention oversight, review clinical service reports, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with facility standards, including professional appearance and working relationships.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Master’s degree in social work, clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited college or university required. Doctorate preferred.

Experience

  • Experience in the coordination and administration of mental health service delivery systems.
  • Significant coursework and professional experience in the mental health field that indicates knowledge of management and supervision techniques, peer review, quality assurance, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders, and psychological evaluation techniques.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed in the state of employment by the appropriate state licensing board.
  • Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
