Please Note: This is a 12-month temporary position with the possibility of extension.
The NAIT Well-being portfolio brings together Student Counseling, Recreation Programming and Facilities, and Mental Health Programming in a collaborative approach to support all dimensions of well-being.
Reporting to the Mental Health Coordinator, the incumbent will assist with the administration of the Outreach and Well-being Leaders program, a team of student-staff committed to well-being promotion and education within the NAIT community. Additionally, this position will take an active role in the planning, promotion, implementation, and assessment of Mental Health and Well-being events and activities across campus.
The successful candidate is comfortable challenging the status quo and thinks creatively to achieve identified objectives and meet the diverse needs of the campus population. They are service-oriented and passionate about supporting an inclusive and accessible environment.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication with a high attention to detail
  • Proven ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated event planning experience
  • Ability to time-manage, adapt to changing priorities, and work under tight timelines
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of an effective and collaborative team
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in using a variety of computer software and systems to support the different needs of event planning and promotion

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field - preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience in an administrative capacity; preference for experience in a post-secondary environment
  • Social media experience – preferred
  • Experience in supervision, leadership, or mentorship - preferred
  • Certification in Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, or similar mental health and suicide prevention training would be considered an asset
    Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
    Remuneration: $44,256.94 – $57,140.72 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Administrative Support IV).
    This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning, implementation, and administration of the Outreach and Well-being Leaders (OWL) program and OWLET volunteer program
  • Assist with onboarding and training of Outreach and Well-being Leaders (OWL) and volunteers, including creation of the training program
  • Provides on-going support and mentorship to the OWL team including weekly check-ins and event planning support
  • Take an active role in all planning and implementation aspects of both virtual and face-to-face events and activities for Mental Health and Well-being.
  • Manage and run NAIT student life social media channels, creating content and engaging with the student community
