Job Description
Are you driven, ambitious, and ready to make a real impact? We’re on the hunt for a talented Merchandise Planner to take on an exciting intermediate-level role. In this pivotal position, you’ll not only help our team achieve their financial targets but also help developing the next generation of merchandise planners at the Warehouse Group. Reporting into the Lead Planner you will be responsible for the delivery of the commercial outcomes for your categories. All while expanding your knowledge of the planning function through working closely with the Lead Planner to develop strategic plans and insights for the wider category division. You will also play a crucial role in providing analytical support to the broader Planning Function and key stakeholders, including Buying, Operations, and Logistics. Your contributions will ensure the accurate placement of products, enhancing our operational efficiency and market success.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Contributing towards strategy implementation by actively engaging in team activities and supporting other team members
- Clearly communicating data, actions and outcomes, keeping stakeholders up to date on progress and providing and receiving constructive feedback
- Financial – builds and delivers to the budget
- Customer – with buying, effectively build a range plan that reflects the category strategy, chasing opportunities and managing risk to financial plan. Quickly identifying trade trends and taking appropriate action to optimise outcomes.
- Range and process - Leading the range review with the buying team. Delivering to critical dates, articulating range decisions and impact on financial performance plan.
- Pricing and promotion – Manage markdown (clearance and promo) plan effectively within financial plans and market changes.
- Taking ownership of tasks, following policies and procedures, ensuring quality, accuracy and deadlines are met.
- Living the company culture, values and behaviours
- Manage the forecasts and ordering of continuity skus
- Driving their own development through the use of an individual development plan and regular one to one meetings with the Lead Planner
Qualifications
You understand retail and merchandise planning; you always have customers front of mind and can interpret data into stories, translate customer mission strategies into actionable decisions that deliver results. All things that describe you – collaborative, excellent stakeholder management and communications skills, strong influencer.
To be considered for this role you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- At least one year Retail and merchandise planning experience.
- University Degree in Business or a relevant field
- Balanced commercial acumen with numerical and analytical skills to translate data into commercial decisions
- Decisiveness in our dynamic, fast-moving environment
- BI Reporting tools experience
