ABOUT US

The University of Toronto Libraries (UTL) system is the largest academic library in Canada and is fourth among peer institutions in North America. The system consists of 42 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of 300 graduate programs, over 70 professional programs, and more than 700 undergraduate degree programs. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year. The Libraries data centre houses more than 200 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes.

QUALIFICATIONS

(Minimum)

EDUCATION:

  • University degree or an acceptable combination of education and experience is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of five years related experience working in a research or library setting required.
  • Experience working with electronic journals and books formats, metadata records and Electronic Resource Management Systems (e.g. Serials Solutions)
  • Experience working with consortially licensed resources is an asset.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of MARC formats and MARC record editing software required.
  • Knowledge of XML markup language required; experience developing XML transformations and maintaining and managing XML documents and schemas an asset.
  • Working Knowledge of Excel.
  • Familiarity with ONIX is an asset.
  • Familiarity with MarkLogic is an asset.
