Responsibilities:
ROLE OVERVIEW
The General Labour position within the Metal Shop safely performs fabrication and assembly operations on sheet metal and machined products with minimal supervision. This position is responsible for sanding, countersinking, punching, drilling or otherwise prepping of metal sheets or plates into parts or products.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Operates a punch press, time saver sander, drill press, or pedestal grinder
- Operates a vertical belt sander safely
- Prepares, sets up, and adjusts punch press as required by product plans and production schedules
- Read and interpret drawings, and specifications
- Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Works collaboratively between departments to ensure efficiency in the build process.
- Identifies, communicates, and implements continuous improvement processes and initiatives. Takes action to correct issues while ensuring quality requirements are met
- Follows maintenance schedule for all equipment
- Performs all duties per applicable quality program procedures
- Completes all other duties as per departmental requirements, including supporting other Production departments via transfer when required
