Description:

Seeking a metallurgical or chemical engineer to manage a multi-metal refining circuit as part of an e-waste recycling process. Key responsibilities:

  • Process optimisation: Continuously analyze and improve the refining processes to maximize metal recovery and purity while minimizing costs and environmental impact.
  • Technical support: Provide expert technical guidance to operations teams, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure efficient and effective refining of various metals from e-waste.
  • Quality control: Develop and oversee quality control procedures to ensure the refined metals meet required specifications and industry standards.
  • Process development: Research and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance the refining circuit’s capabilities and efficiency in extracting valuable metals from e-waste.
  • Safety and compliance: Ensure all refining operations adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret data from the refining processes to generate technical reports and make data-driven decisions for process improvements.
  • Equipment maintenance and upgrades: Oversee the maintenance of refining equipment and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed to improve performance and reliability.
  • Team management: Lead and mentor a team of technicians and operators, providing training and guidance to ensure smooth operations of the refining circuit.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as procurement, production, and sales to align refining processes with overall business objectives and market demands.
  • Sustainability initiatives: Develop and implement strategies to minimise waste, reduce energy consumption, and improve the overall sustainability of the e-waste recycling process.

This role requires a strong background in metallurgy or chemical engineering, with specific knowledge of hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes for metal extraction and refining. The ideal candidate should have experience in process engineering, particularly in the field of metal recovery or recycling, and be familiar with the unique challenges posed by e-waste as a feedstock
