Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for providing technical support to the operations and maintenance teams for a safe and efficient operation of the production process to produce good quality product.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Analysing of plant performance and initiate improvement plans.
- Ensuring sampling and metallurgical accounting are maintained to a high standard in accordance with AMIRA code of practice.
- Ensuring high metallurgical performance in magnetite plants.
- Developing operational strategies in line with metallurgical parameters to ensure customer requirements are satisfied.
- Liaising with different stakeholders in the value chain.
- Participating in the magnetite growth projects.
- Commissioning of new process units in line with the expansion programme.
- Conducting investigations into customer complaints and recommend follow up and corrective actions.
- Participating in business improvement projects and support cost saving initiatives.
- Identifying SHEQ hazards and conduct risk assessments in the area of work.
Intrinsic Qualities:
- Working knowledge of process performance analysis.
- Demonstrate analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Must have strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Understanding of beneficiation processes such as magnetic separation, solid-liquid separation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc / BTech in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years industrial experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Project Management or Lean Six Sigma would be advantageous.
- Eligibility for Registration with recognised professional association.
- Valid driver’s license.
