Responsibilities:

YOUR FUTURE ROLE

In this role, under the guidance of the Methods Manager, you will evaluate the requirements of Engineering, Operations, support functions, and Customers to develop and implement solutions that maximise the organisation’s tools, systems, and resources.

  • Develop, industrialise, and implement cost-effective solutions for maintenance and overhaul projects based on engineering specifications.
  • Trial and implement new processes, methods, and production layouts incorporating lean principles.
  • Identify and specify plant, equipment, calibrated tools, and special processes, issuing appropriate instructions.
  • Establish standard times for tasks, create user-friendly manufacturing documentation (e.g., BOMs, labour estimates, work instructions), and update technical and industrial project documentation.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, incorporate lean tools, and support business performance enhancements.
  • Collaborate on cost reduction actions, tendering processes, and introducing new business requirements.
  • Ensure safety risk assessments are conducted and support other departments as needed.

  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience in relevant discipline associated with Production Engineering. University degree in Railway Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering or Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of production/process engineering
  • Knowledge and experience of implementation of improvement methods
  • Knowledge of Standard Operation procedures, tools and techniques
  • Understand modern manufacturing techniques – JIT, Kanban and when and how to implement
  • Experienced with industrial engineering techniques such as method study
  • Problem analysis and problem solving
