Description:

METROLOGY & QUALITY TECHNICIAN

The Metrology and Quality Technician will support all measurement activities in manufacturing plant (Body Shop, Paint Shop, General Assembly) as well as in Head Quarter for special projects as required. Additionally, the successful candidate will perform quality functions such as in-process quality inspections, line audits, and be responsible for maintaining the calibration of measurement devices and gauges.
Qualified candidates will have knowledge of: Lean Manufacturing, report writing, CMM (LASER, Romer Arm) programing and routine execution, dimensional management, SAP, Aluminum MIG welding inspection, SPR riveting inspection, Aluminum metal finishing, etc.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BS degree in Quality/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or at least 5 years’ experience working in quality engineering in automobile manufacturing, aerospace, or related industry.
Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Must be detail oriented and a critical thinker.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with CMM, Laser tracker (LEICA), and Romer Absolute Arm is required & knowledge with FARO Arm is a plus.
Experience with Poly Works Inspection Software, M3 Software, CATIA/3D CAD experience to work with native files as well as STEP and IGES.
Knowledge of PC-dimis and Verisurf software is a plus but required.
Inspection equipment experience: Horizontal or dual arm style CMM.
Strong knowledge and understanding of GD&T applications and quality control standards and methodologies.
Basic knowledge of Laser Scanner, microscope, universal tensile strength tester, and other relevant measurement fixtures.
Knowledge in Six Sigma Green Belt is desired but not required (but must be willing to learn).

Responsibilities:

Inspect components at the Body Shop and inspect vehicles at Paint Shop, General Assembly, and at the Final Process Audit area as needed.
Learn and follow Karma Quality Inspection Standards.
Understand Built-in-Quality (BIQ) or Quality at the Source (QAS) principles.
Ensure that all products meet customer and company requirements by performing inspections of individual components, stampings, castings, and supplier parts.
Learn and adhere to company policies and quality and metrology processes as well as safety requirements.
Must meet tight deadlines and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must establish and maintain a professional working relationship with external and internal teams at all levels across the company.
Balance multiple projects, utilizing various skill sets in a highly dynamic and diverse working environment.
Must be able to work independently, but also be a strong contributor in small and large groups.
Liaise with Production, Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
Understand manufacturing processes for application in measurement study requirements.
Apply measurement best practices for special investigations.
Fully understand datum scheme requirements and applications, along with GD&T.
Utilize metrology equipment to collect tactile and scan data and output detailed reports to communicate key findings.
Participate in Lean/Kaizen, Six Sigma Projects, and Continuous Improvement initiatives as needed.
Will travel to the corporate office in Irvine if needed.
Other responsibilities assigned by management.
