This job assumes the responsibility for all communications activities of the Department of Philanthropy and stewardship activities. In this capacity it serves as a formal conduit to engage key external partners on company initiatives. This position will execute an effective and targeted communication strategy that helps achieve Philanthropy’s long-term goals.

EDUCATION
Required – Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related are of study
Preferred – Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related are of study
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required – 5 years’ experience with fundraising or development, OR 3 years of same experience with a Master’s degree
Preferred – Experience with fundraising software such as Blackbaud, Pledge Maker, Clearview, etc.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)
- Effective and strategic verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of stakeholders.
- Serve as a role model within the department and system.
- Reliable transportation as travel within the system is required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to coordinate and perform a variety of different activities simultaneously.
- Must have computer skills and be proficient with Windows-style applications, keyboard and various software programs specific to role.
- Ability to assist with set up and/or break down of events and meetings.
- Excellence interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse groups in an effective manner.
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and writes proposals, collaterals and boiler plate messaging for service lines ensuring that departmental messaging is consistent and unified.
- Manages Philanthropy content for the company’s website, magazine and online giving portal.
- Assists with developing messages, editing and proofreading acknowledgement letters, endowment and stewardship report, direct mail letters and e-solicitations.
- Collaborates with Marketing/Internal Communications/PR and prospect managers on press releases and programs for gift announcements, ribbon cutting events and naming ceremonies.
- Maintains the ongoing communications calendar for Philanthropy.
- Analyzes all data related to communications and strategizes to improve conversion rates.
- Training philanthropy coordinator on ongoing stewardship and communications tasks.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
