JOB SUMMARY:

  • Previous experience working as a Business/Data/MI Analyst.
  • Competent with Power Query and other ETL tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Excel, and working with large volumes of data, use of v lookups, pivot tables etc.
  • Confident with DAX expressions and familiarity with Power Query M language
  • Familiarity with Power BI Workspace administration and Row-level security and working with PIBX files.
  • Experience of MI reporting in a financial advisory business or similar
  • Good understanding of basic statistical theory and data analytics
  • Basic understanding of computer software systems, data structures
  • Previous Experience with Power BI, creating visualisations that present data clearly and enable users to understand trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Experience building dashboards and data models
  • Commitment to pass basic financial industry exam within 3 months of employment (internal exam).

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Foster Denovo is currently rolling out a project to rebuild FD’s current, predominantly Excel based Management Information (MI) infrastructure (Project BIRT). To support existing MI requirements during this period, we are looking for a confident self-starter to replace the existing MI Analyst, who is moving on at the end of the year.
Working independently, you will be updating, amending, and distributing existing MI reports throughout the business.
Current MI tasks are around 70% Excel and 30% Power BI, often using Power Query for ETL processes. Most source data is extracted from Intelliflo our core CRM or other systems as csv or Excel files. Other data is provided through connections to our Power Platform Dataverse.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To deliver all MI Service deliverables to meet Service Level Agreements in terms of quality and timescales.
  • Performing Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tasks from the various sources of data available to the business.
  • Working with Finance and other departments to work on the sanitisation of raw data to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • To work with iO Support and related teams to pre-empt data issues before export.
  • To report data quality issues to the relevant parties for resolution or improvement.
  • To create and manage data models for publishing as ‘Golden/Certified’ datasets for publication to Power BI Workspaces.
  • Design and develop Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide insights into business operations and performance.
  • Proficiency in identifying and correcting data inconsistencies, errors, and duplicates using Microsoft Excel’s advanced functions to ensure a clean and standardized dataset.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on performing regular data quality checks, ensuring completeness, consistency, and adherence to data standards. This includes documenting the cleaning process and implementing quality controls to prevent errors
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and understand data requirements and translate them into meaningful insights and analysis.
  • Analyse complex data sets and communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance of Power BI solutions
  • Stay up to date with new Power BI features and functionality and make recommendations for their adoption.
  • Occasionally use Amazon QuickSight or Excel to create visualisations and reports
  • To support FD through its roadmap to Power BI adoption progressively improving its maturity level as defined by Microsoft.
  • To administer access permissions to workspaces and where required implement Row-Level Security (RLS) where required to ensure appropriate access and security of data.
  • To create MI assets using best practice methodologies to ensure quality and efficiency in their production.
  • To identify software licensing requirements and request on behalf of users where necessary
