QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering
• Strong background in peridynamics theory
• Be proficient in programming with Python, Matlab and/or Fortran.
• Experience in finite element methods using ANSYS and Abaqus software packages
• Strong technical writing ability and analytical skills
• Be familiar with applications of machine learning methods in solid mechanics

The ideal candidate is expected to work on projects in peridynamics fatigue crack growth modeling, development of peridynamics elastic-plastic material models, advanced machine learning models in fatigue and fracture. The main job responsibilities include assisting the principal investigator in developing peridynanmics damage models, simulating models, processing and analyzing simulation data, validating model(s) predictions and writing research proposals and articles.
Note: Research Associate needs to work on-site in the PI’s lab during the contract hours.
