How you make a difference:
In collaboration with and under the supervision of the physician staff, the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Primary Care Telehealth will assess inmate patients via the telemedicine platform to complete history and physical visits and sick call clinic. These scheduled visits will be supported by an onsite telehealth presenter (e.g., nurse, LPN, medical assistant) to assist with obtaining vital signs and using the peripheral telehealth devices (e.g., electronic stethoscope, digital examination camera). The NP/PA will coordinate the patient plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in collaboration with the onsite healthcare team and in compliance with local policies and procedures and all agency, local, state, federal laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be present on camera in professional attire and in a quiet, secure location that protects patient privacy and health information for all telehealth visits.
- Be on time for scheduled sick call and/or H&P clinics.
- Collaborate with onsite staff to prepare and conduct an efficient telehealth clinic.
- Provide clinically appropriate assessments and treatment plans that align with best practice.
- Provide patient and staff education on medical conditions and medications, as needed, with the goal to improve the understanding of the overall treatment plan.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- Completion of a master’s program in nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAs
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year correctional healthcare experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Unrestricted current license, certification, or registration in EACH state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
