Boeing Space Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mid-Level Systems Engineering Manager to lead a team of systems engineers supporting the Cruise Missiles Systems (CMS) business for Precision Engagement Systems in Saint Charles, MO. The CMS portfolio includes multiple advanced development programs providing mission critical capabilities across a diverse customer set. The Systems Engineering organization is responsible for developing end-to-end system solutions from requirements development through production using disciplined system engineering methodologies.
As a successful candidate, you will manage employees performing activities with multiple technical/engineering disciplines. You must be willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone and to take intelligent risks to achieve objectives. The position is best suited to individuals who are self-starters, highly motivated, work well in fast paced multi-discipline team environments, and able to provide frequent management decisions for the best interest of the business.
This manager position requires domain knowledge in weapons, aircraft, ground systems and Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) experience in order to successfully lead a high performing system engineering team. You must be able to lead program teams to execute systems engineering statement of work (SOW) to further the development of complex weapons systems for unique, challenging missions. The position requires the ability to plan and staff systems engineers for multiple programs, anticipate staffing demands, and collaborate across large organizations and across multiple sites for optimal resource allocations and personnel development. You must also be able to develop, scale and drive MBSE practices across the organization and work with enterprise leaders on MBSE solution kits. Other key capabilities include clear and concise, written, and oral communication of complex subjects to Boeing leadership and at all levels of customer engagement.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Systems Engineering experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Management Experience.
  • MBSE Experience.
  • Weapons/Aircraft Integration Experience.
  • Weapons Experience.
  • Aircraft/Ground Systems and Avionics Experience.
  • Master’s Degree.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies, procedures, design practices and sets operational goals.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports as well as provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes across multiple sites.
  • Manages program cost and schedule commitments including performing cost account management duties associated with earned value management.
  • Leads efforts to define and execute implementation plans, as well as negotiate and build consensus across a diverse team of assigned personnel.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
