Description:

Position Summary: The Rupert A. Nock Assistant Principal assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff and parents. This includes leading, directing, counseling and supervising a variety of students and personnel; creating effective parent, teacher and child communications; supporting, encouraging, mentoring and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork between teachers and among staff and parents; and managing budget items. The assistant principal acts in the capacity of the principal during his/her absences from the building.Job Description Collaborates with principals on building usage, vertical alignment of curriculum, and supporting culture and climate within the building.Collaborates with principal and team coordinator on transitions from Molin Elementary (Grades 4 and 5), to the Nock Middle School.Provides leadership in student development including orientation, attendance, counseling, discipline, and academic progress.
Collaborate with the School Resource Officer (SRO), and social service agencies. Assumes responsibility for implementing discipline procedures as stated in the Student Handbook. Develop innovative strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive plans for students who exhibit at-risk behaviors. Works collaboratively with the principals to create positive relations with parents, business leaders and community members.
Listens and responds to parent concerns with sensitivity. Conducts parent and student meetings and attends after-school activities. Promotes open and reflective school-parent relationships. Assists in organizing parent conferences, open houses, orientation nights and events, and other times when staff is available to parents to discuss their childs learning and behavior.
Supports the administration of testing programs.Organizes and directs student supervision (including lunches and before/after school dismissal).Supports substitute teachers in carrying out their duties.Assists with the development of the master schedule (including building student schedules in Aspen X2).Serves on district-level committees as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent. Attends conferences, workshops and meetings to keep informed of current practices and trends in education. Attends meetings as requested beyond the regular workday. Represents the school at community and school events.
Supports the implementation of a Curriculum Accommodation Plan to ensure the learning needs of all students are met. Participates in the hiring, supervision and evaluation of school personnel.Collaborates with PBIS team, administration and staff to ensure expected student behaviors. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal/Superintendent.Assists in the implementation of the Strategic Plan.Support the administration of testing programs.Serve on district-level committees as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.Attend conferences, workshops and meetings to keep informed of current practices and trends in education. Attend meetings of the school site council, advisory committees, etc.
