Description:

We have an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the service users and their families in our semi-rural setting in Yorkshire. Come and join our friendly and highly motivated Maternity team. We are passionate about providing high quality holistic care to our service users and their families.
We are committed to looking at ways to develop and improve our maternity services, therefore we are looking for self-motivated, dynamic and professional midwives to join our team.
For more information about Airedale NHS Foundation Hospital Maternity Services, please see our new exciting website https://www.airedaletrust.nhs.uk/service/maternity/
The key purpose of the role is to provide high quality midwifery care sensitive to the needs of the woman and her family in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. This will include liaising with other professional groups in the hospital and community settings to ensure the needs of the woman and her family are met.
The post holder will actively participate in the education, training and dissemination of professional and clinical knowledge to colleagues, student midwives and other members of the multi-disciplinary team acting as an effective role model.
In pursuing these duties, the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance ‘Understanding the new NHS’ (details of which can be found in the links section of NHS Jobs).
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to rotate in all areas of our maternity services, including community.
You must hold a current NMC registration and meet the essential person specification to apply for this role.
We are always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we provide our services. We are a national centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes. Community matters to us and we are supported by 400 dedicated volunteers and have strong links with Bradford University, Craven College and Leeds City College to ensure we inspire the workforce of the future.
We want to attract staff who embrace our ‘Right Care’ behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients – we want to make these part of our DNA.
To assess women’s needs, plan, implement and evaluate care on an individual basis.
To maintain contemporaneous, accurate and precise documentation relating to patient care in accordance with NMC rules
To work within national and local guidelines relating to midwifery practice
To maintain existing clinical expertise and develop new skills
Maintain clear, unbiased communication with women and their families and all other professionals involved in care
To be involved in quality assurance and clinical audit
To be involved in midwifery research making efforts to improve care
Ensure that personal staff development review is undertaken and reviewed as planned
To assist support team members in achieving common objectives of the team
Discuss any areas of concern relating to professional practice with the Ward / Department Manager / Team Leader
To supervise and participate in the teaching of students, midwives, and junior staff within Maternity Services and to give appropriate support and advice to junior staff.
To act up in the absence of the team leader/manager as required.
To liaise with other professional groups and provide advice as necessary and assist in the provision of a multi-disciplinary approach to care, co-ordinating all aspects of care in the best interests of the mothers and their babies.
Participate in the on call rota for the maternity unit to support at times of heightened activity and escalation
