POSITION OVERVIEW

Calian is seeking a Military Occupational Instructor specializing in Human Resources to join our team in Borden, ON. This position is for upcoming occasional requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a minimum one (1) year experience instructing in the content area Human Resources
  • Must have a minimum two (2) years’ experience working (not as an instructor) in the content area of Human Resources
  • Must hold a valid Standard First Aid certification
  • Proficiency in English and French is preferred but not required

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some of the area and overnight travel may be expected
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a specified military occupation, with a focus on Human Resources
  • Use word processing, spreadsheet, and database software (MS Office Suite)
  • Prepare lesson plans
  • Operate training simulators, tools, and/or other equipment used in the occupation being instructed or by the institution providing the training
  • Assist other instructors in training activities that require more than one instructor
  • Counsel students on their progress
  • Maintain]and update student files
  • Perform student assessments
  • Assist DND by making recommendations and changes to existing curriculum
  • Provide safety support by administering immediate first aid to students and unit personnel in the event of an emergency
  • Identify training equipment shortfalls
  • Monitor training activities and provide feedback for improving instructional techniques
  • Suggest training improvements through the chain of command
  • Develop exercises in support of training (where required)
  • Coordinate administrative details for courses (where required)
  • Produce After Course Review
  • Attend staff meetings as directed
