Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dispatch Controller to join the Mine Monitor and Control team at Peabody’s Wilpinjong mine.
Working the 5:4 lifestyle roster, as a dispatcher you will play a key role in working with our established dispatch team in maintaining the steady flow, whilst looking to drive the efficiency and effectiveness of your mine production team.
Our Wilpinjong mine is a relatively low strip open-cut coal mine located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee producing a high quality thermal coal for export and domestic markets. We use predominately truck & excavator mining and dozer bulk pushing in our overburden, coal and rehab operations primarily utilising CAT mechanical fleet.
Proving great stability to our employees, we have a mine life in the 2030s, 67M Tonnes of proven and probable coal and a great collaboration of teammates looking to extend our mine life out to the decades. Across the entire operation’s stakeholder teams in plant operations, maintenance, engineering and production, we are looking for those who will deliver to plan, work effectively and collaboratively in delivering an outcome of excellence and assisting us in our innovation.
Working closely with the senior crew supervisor, our crew dispatcher will have the opportunity to positively effect production output through the fleet management system by understanding and continually tweaking prioritisation. They will be supported by a MMC (mine monitor and control) coordinator in providing guidance, system upskilling and troubleshooting issues.

DUTIES FOR THE DISPATCH TEAM WILL INCLUDE:

  • Set and demonstrate a proactive approach to health, safety and environmental standards and ensure a safe working environment is maintained.
  • Engage with a crew full of diverse personalities to deliver monthly and daily plans with high levels of conformance.
  • Ensure that equipment stoppages and delays are recorded and provide coordination to ensure prompt action by the Shift and Maintenance Supervisors.
  • Support supervisors and operators utilise equipment resources to achieve the mine plan and production targets.
  • Assist in optimising mining activities by providing operational coordination through the effective use of the fleet management system as part of the shift management team along with production, drill & blast and Maintenance Supervisors and Leading Hands.
  • Ensure the equipment stoppages and delays are planned and coordinated to reduce impact to the production cycle.
  • Coordinate and monitor equipment operator breaks and ensure equipment is refuelled and equipment delivered for planned maintenance.
  • Be an active participant in the continuous improvement program.
  • Serve as a central communication personnel for mine production and safety, including emergency events.
