Role overview:
Reporting directly to the Director, Mine Technical Services, we are seeking a qualified candidate for our Mine Engineer position. This is a unique opportunity to join a team that is focused on supporting the advancement of a Tier-1 uranium project, as it transitions to the next stage of its development. The purpose of this role is to manage and lead the advancement of several key mining engineering and execution packages for the project.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary surveys and studies of ore deposits to assess the economic and environmental feasibility of potential mining operations.
- Determine the safest and most effective way to mine underground deposits.
- Identify and advise on appropriate drilling and blasting methods for mining.
- Design shafts, ventilation systems, mine services, haulage systems, and supporting structures.
- Mine design which includes mine modeling, block models and vent simulator models.
- Co-ordinate selection of mining equipment in collaboration with other engineering specialists and operational personal.
- Collaborate with other engineering experts to create or select mining machines and equipment, as well as mineral processing equipment and machinery.
- Plan, organize the development of mines and mine standards for safe operations.
- Input into mine maintenance systems to insure they meet mine standards.
- Prepare operations and project estimates, schedules, and reports.
- Implement and coordinate mine safety programs in line with the Company’s direction.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of technicians, technologists, surveyors and other engineers and scientists.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering/Geology or a Mining Technologist Diploma.
- Strong underground mine operation experience, which includes underground construction and project execution experience.
- Experience with Deswik CAD, Deswik Ops, and, Deswik Shed is preferred.
- Expert level organizational skills and the ability to multi-task coupled with the ability to effectively prioritize and solve problems.
- Proven ability to work and communicate with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
- High attention to detail, strong work ethic, and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- A highly motivated self- starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who is comfortable being on a small team while working on multiple projects in a growth-oriented environment.
