Responsibilities:
- Responsible for safety, production, quality and budgets for their area of mine operations;
- Lead and manage the underground mining team, including Shift Supervisors, operators, and support staff;
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to develop team capabilities;
- Promote a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations;
- Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices;
- Oversee daily underground operations to meet production targets, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities;
- Ensure efficient use of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials;
- Monitor and adjust mine plans in coordination with technical services to optimize production and minimize costs;
- Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with safety, health, and environmental regulations;
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate risks;
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence;
- Collaborate with the Technical Services, Maintenance, and Processing teams to align production goals with overall mine plans;
- Manage inventory of mining supplies, explosives, and equipment to support uninterrupted operations;
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and cost efficiency;
- Analyze production data and key performance indicators to track progress and drive performance;
- Track and report on key metrics such as production volumes, development meters, and equipment utilization;
- Maintain and develop technical management skills and knowledge;
- In collaboration with the Maintenance Superintendent, organize overall maintenance of mine equipment in a cost-effective manner;
- Be visible in the workplace
