Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for safety, production, quality and budgets for their area of mine operations;
  • Lead and manage the underground mining team, including Shift Supervisors, operators, and support staff;
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to develop team capabilities;
  • Promote a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations;
  • Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices;
  • Oversee daily underground operations to meet production targets, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities;
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials;
  • Monitor and adjust mine plans in coordination with technical services to optimize production and minimize costs;
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with safety, health, and environmental regulations;
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate risks;
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence;
  • Collaborate with the Technical Services, Maintenance, and Processing teams to align production goals with overall mine plans;
  • Manage inventory of mining supplies, explosives, and equipment to support uninterrupted operations;
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement initiatives to enhance productivity, safety, and cost efficiency;
  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators to track progress and drive performance;
  • Track and report on key metrics such as production volumes, development meters, and equipment utilization;
  • Maintain and develop technical management skills and knowledge;
  • In collaboration with the Maintenance Superintendent, organize overall maintenance of mine equipment in a cost-effective manner;
  • Be visible in the workplace
