The Operation You’ll Support
Aeris’ Tritton Copper Operations is located near the towns of Nyngan and Cobar in Central New South Wales. Our operation’s underground mining complex feeds 1.8 million tonne per annum through our processing plant and our highly prospective tenements package covers about 2,330km2 of the Girilambone basin. We’re a major, regional employer in the local district supporting the community and investing in education and career pathways for local residents.
About The Role
The purpose of this role as a Mine Surveyor is to provide day to day survey direction and control to enable the mining operation to be carried out efficiently and safely.
Perform field surveys of active mining operations and exploration areas adjacent to active mines as required or as directed
Update and maintain survey plans and records, calculate production volumes and notify relevant company personnel of completed surveys in an accurate and timely manner.
Manage and maintain high precision GPS and other survey equipment on site to ensure accurate and compliant delivery of operation.
Establish and maintain photo control points, analyse aerial survey information, and when necessary, carry out ROM and product stockpile manual surveys and volume calculations in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate mine survey records and maps for submission to Department of Natural Resources and Mines per regulation.
You will prepare (and keep up to date) plans and schedules for mining activities and resources required to achieve operational requirements effectively.
Working with a small, close-knit team, as part of a larger Technical Services division, you will provide continual direction and mapping for the development and production teams.
About You
Whilst you’ll ideally have experience as a mine surveyor, you may also be someone who possesses strong civil/construction surveying experience and is looking to change industries!
You are the definition of “Team Player” and possess a natural willingness to help out wherever your skills are needed
You’re highly motivated and have a strong ability to work autonomously as well as part of a high performing team
Ideally, you’ll possess experience with Leica Total Stations and are a proficient user of Deswik mining software and/or have knowledge and experience using surveying tools, equipment, and surveying technology such as GIS
As we use a lot of drones in our Tritton operation, any experience in that area would be highly regarded, as well as possessing a Remote Pilots Licence (REPL) or UAV Controller’s certificate.
A sound understanding of responsibilities in relations to the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Mining Legislation.
