Expressions of interest sought for: Ministerially appointed members of the Veterinary Council of New Zealand
The Ministry for Primary Industries, on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, is seeking expressions of interest for two Council member roles for the Veterinary Council of New Zealand. Interest is sought from people who can bring a diverse range of skills and perspectives to the table, along with interest in the veterinary sector.
The Vet Council is the regulator for veterinarians. It upholds veterinary standards to protect people and animals, and to maintain trust in veterinary professionals.
The Council is the governing body of the Vet Council. It is responsible for ensuring the organisation carries out its functions under the Veterinarians Act and fulfils its strategic purpose: Leading veterinary excellence, ensuring quality and advancing trust.
The Council is made up of a mix of appointed, elected and ex officio members. At this time, the Minister will be appointing one veterinarian and one lay person.
