Unit of Synod/Presbytery/Congregation: Mission & Leadership Development – Mission Resourcing

Classification: Part Time Fixed Term

  • Opportunity to serve in the mission areas of Covenanting with First Nations Peoples, International Mission, Social Justice and Multicultural initiatives.
  • Ordained or lay ministry - two positions part-time (0.5FTE) fixed-term [Five-year fixed term placement for Minister of the Word/Deacon or a two-year fixed term employment arrangements for (lay) Ministry of Pastor].
  • Based in Brooklyn Park at the Uniting College for Leadership & Theology, Yarthu Apinthi.

DESCRIPTION:

The Mission Resourcing team sits within the Mission & Leadership Development ministry centre of the Uniting Church in Australia Synod of South Australia and is currently seeking to appoint two additional Mission Activator positions to join the vital work of the Mission Resourcing team.
Reporting to the Executive Officer, Mission Resourcing, the Mission Activators support and engage with congregations and presbyteries by providing leadership, pastoral care, resources, and nurturing relationships.

There is a team of Mission Activators working collaboratively with one another and with the other councils and ministries of the Uniting Church, including Uniting College. Each of the Mission Activators may have specific gifts or areas of focus in a particular ministry. The Mission Activators will work collaboratively across all the key focus areas of the Strategic Framework, enabling fruitful missional outcomes:

  • A Covenant Come Alive: How the covenant relationship with Uniting Aboriginal & Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) can be experienced and lived more richly.
  • Faith Vitality and Formation: How to grow faith vitality intergenerationally in all stages of life.
  • Congregational Renewal: How to lead congregations through renewal into the future.
  • Local Community Mission & Evangelism: How to do local practical mission and effectively proclaim and share the gospel.
  • Intercultural Capacity: How to read and discern the complexity of contemporary cultures to engage faithfully.
