DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

MITRE’s National Security Sector is helping lead a dramatic shift in how the United States and partner nations solve problems for a safer world. MITRE brings positive and enduring impact by solving critical national security challenges; creating social benefit and economic opportunity; and building a safer and better world for today and future generations. The Commonwealth of Australia faces broad-based system engineering challenges that require engineering and scientific research expertise that draws upon multiple disciplines and government service domains, as well as partnership with a trusted advisor that is objective in its assessments and free from conflicts of interest. This trusted advisor role is especially valuable as the Commonwealth invests in efforts to uplift innovation, enhance sovereign capabilities, bolster the defence industrial base, and contribute to the success of the Australia, United Kingdom, and U.S. tri-lateral agreement (AUKUS).

MITRE | Australia supports the Commonwealth by delivering on MITRE’s core competencies including, but not limited to:

  • systems engineering and integration;
  • artificial intelligence and machine learning;
  • cybersecurity, electronic warfare, and information warfare;
  • and other cross-domain, leap-ahead technologies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.”
  • Active Australian Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) and must be eligible to obtain an Australian Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) and Eligible for Positive Vetting (PV) clearance
  • Experience working in the national security field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capable of working with technical professionals to include scientists, analysts, and technical software developers across several technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply strong self-organization and time management skills, with considerable emphasis on self-initiation, independent decision making, accuracy and follow through on a broad range of administrative support tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively assess situations and make decisions within broadly defined practices and procedures.
  • Requires high level of poise, discretion, initiative, tact, professionalism, and diplomacy in working closely, often under time constraints, with highly confidential information, with a diverse group of staff, and MITRE operations supporting components.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills including Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Wrike and or Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively assess situations and make decisions within broadly defined practices and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to operate and team with MITRE management, staff and clients are a must.
  • Able to provide key information in a concise matter identifying actions/solutions to mitigate identified risks or issue.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

5 or more years of experience in operations, project/program management, or national security related studies.

  • Lead the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Security design and delivery for TBD Zone facility, responsible for project costing, briefing to leadership, development of technical solutions, documentation of design and specifications, and liaising with contractors during construction. Able to identify internal and external business challenges.
  • Facilitate and manage the team communication channels, websites, and tools.
  • Continuously assess and improve processes as needed and coordinate across the broader MITRE International operations community.
  • Assist in monitoring pending incomplete projects/meetings and coordination of inputs for action items.
  • Set up and maintain project files and records, including establishing resources/documentation necessary for organizational transparency
  • Develop and maintain strong internal relationships across a matrixed team, partners, administrative staff, technical staff, and sponsor project teams.
  • Be passionate about being a ‘connector’ across a large, agile team focused on incorporating collaborative best practices.
  • Lead Multiple Independent Project Teams that will change based upon organizational need.
