A Day in the Life
Our Data Analytics & Insights team is looking for a motivated MLOps Engineer with strong analytical skills to join their team. In this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for the ownership, design, deployment, and support of the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) models, pipelines, and tools supporting Global Operations & Supply Chain. You will be able to assist in driving proactive, intelligent decisions at scale with predictive/prescriptive analytics and structured analysis of broad sets of data. You will work closely with the leaders to strategize, build, execute, and productionize AI/ML programs that enable insights into key drivers of strategic imperatives and operations metrics, allowing them to make proactive decisions that improve business outcomes and service to our customers in a cost-effective way.
As an MLOps Engineer you will also promote the use of AI and ML technology to support continuous improvement, with a focus on efficiency and reliability of ML models. You must have in-depth technical knowledge of machine learning and signal processing methodologies and would take part in the full cycle of the development process which includes but is not limited to the design, implementation, debugging, testing and integration with other subsystems. You must also act as a mentor to expand the overall knowledge of AI/ML for the entire Global Operations org. For this position, you will be expected to be based in Bogotá or nearby.

Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties may be assigned:

  • Manage all aspects of MLOps such as Pipeline development, infrastructure management, model deployment, automation, performance tuning, monitoring/re-training, and troubleshooting. Work closely with data scientists to operationalize models.
  • Implement Independently strategic imperatives that enhance data-driven decisions for multiple Global Ops programs.
  • Collect and analyze large datasets from disparate sources. Create predictive models using ML tools and algorithms to extract valuable insights using statistical significance, forecasting, anomaly detection, decision trees, logistic regression, probabilities, etc.
  • Partner with AI/ML practitioners inside and outside Medtronic to bring the latest best practices, tools, and techniques into our workflows.
  • Communicate data story and insights to the non-technical community, describe model outcomes to technical team. Lead and mentor other data scientists on the team.

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or technical discipline required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong experience in machine learning, data engineering, and software development
  • Hands-on experience with building and productionizing AI/ML Models
  • Proficient in Python and R. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks; data query skills with SQL
  • Expertise in setting up and maintaining Git for version control and deliverables management
  • Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), cloud services (AWS, Azure) and in BI tools (PowerBI, etc.) in a large-scale, complex business environment
  • English fluent and Spanish intermediate

Nice to Haves

  • Expertise in AI/ML tools (Azure ML, Dataiku, etc.)
  • Understanding of ETL methodologies and tools (Informatica, etc.)
  • Experience working with Global Operations of large organizations, preferably in medical devices
  • Ability to learn, lead, mentor, educate and support team members
  • Excellent understanding of data analytic and statistical tools, capable of explaining the underlying concepts and principles
  • Experience working with large volumes of data from multiple operations functions
  • Demonstrated ability in managing/supporting multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
