Responsibilities:

As a Mobile Crisis Peer Support Specialist, you’ll be responsible for providing community-based mobile crisis care utilizing your experience receiving mental health services. This will allow you to provide crisis interventions to individuals in a more familiar and comfortable environment, and one that is less restrictive. You’ll also be collaborating with hospitals, medical and behavioral health providers, law enforcement, and other social services. Work is always done in a two-person team, so you’ll always have backup if necessary.

  • The Day-to-Day
  • Respond to clients in crisis where they are (home, work, park, other community locations, ect) – services will not be restricted to certain locations or times of day.
  • This will require the ability to drive to community settings, and navigate in areas which may not be easily accessible as the client needs.
  • Triage and screen for suicidality, de-escalate and present resolutions, coordinate with medical/behavioral health services, and create a crisis plan and follow up.
  • In the moment, establish rapport, share experiences, and strengthen engagement with the client experiencing a crisis. You may also engage with family members or other significant relationships to educate them about self-care and ways to provide support.
  • Actively engage with the client in crisis planning, creating a range of tools and techniques they can use in their safety plan.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Meet clinical and ethical documentation standards.
  • Complete additional and continuing trainings in the field of crisis resolution.
