Leidos Defense Systems is looking for a Junior-to-Mid Level Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer/Analyst/Software Developer for M&S efforts within the Sensor Systems Analysis and Engineering Department (SSA&E). You will join a diverse team of junior-to-senior software developers, engineers, and scientists to help create unique solutions for complex problems.
Our team solves important problems that make a difference and support our customers in the current and future defense of our nation; primarily in the areas of sensor integration, testing, characterization, modeling, simulation, data analysis, and algorithm development for electro-optical infrared (EO/IR) and other sensor systems including radar and acoustics.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate experience in and/or enthusiasm toward developing a broader technical capability to support overlapping engineering and scientific disciplines with but a particular focus on solving problems that arise in M&S. Candidate will eventually be expected to support multiple tasks in parallel, productively contribute in a team environment, and communicate effectively to management, coworkers, and customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant experience.
2-4 years of experience in a related field.
Must possess and be able to maintain a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL, area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to be accountable for small projects because the need to fit into a highly productive team seamlessly.
Preference may be given to candidates with one of more of the following: recent stellar academic performance; relevant experience in simulation engineering; a SECRET clearance or higher; a TS/SCI clearance (with CI Polygraph); familiarity or interest in EO/IR phenomenology; experience with image processing; experience with programming in C++ and/or Python; experience with GPU programming and/or CUDA programming; experience with developing or analyzing AI/ML solutions.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to write/use tools or analytical/engineering skills to solve problems in a variety of disciplines to include M&S, EO/IR sensor systems, and other sensor and modeling applications. Candidate is also expected to have the ability to work and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team, demonstrating the ability to work within an established and very skilled team of engineers and scientists, contributing to various projects which often require analyzing, understanding, and modeling complex, real-world phenomena to support design and decision making.
