QUALIFICATIONS
- NEBOSH National Diploma in occupational safety and health or equivalent. Qualified to Chartered Membership of IOSH and maintain IOSH CPD (Nebosh diploma or similar currently in progress considered providing other H+S qualification and experience provided). Willingness to undertake relevant training to ensure they remain qualified and competent to undertake their duties.
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management
- IOSH Certified Member (previously Graduate Member) CertIOSH (or working towards).
GOVERNMENT PROPERTY PROFESSION (GPP) TECHNICAL SKILLS
The GPP Framework is aimed at staff working in property or property-related roles and consider property to be their career anchor profession. This usually encompasses posts where professional qualifications and experience are directly relevant to the work being undertaken. However, it is also applicable to those who are currently not qualified property practitioners but wish to make this their profession of choice. Those with a property background at any level are encouraged to register with the GPP, which exists to support property practitioners at all levels. Location National (travel to MoJ HQ at 102 Petty France London and to Ministry of Justice and HMPPS sites, including at short notice to respond to health, safety, and business critical issues required)Band SEO

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Provide support to Head of Corporate FH&S in drafting, updating relevant policies and information and guidance documents.
- Interpret and apply the corporate policies in consultation with duty holders and DTUS to establish policy and arrangements.
- Strategic thinking is key, we welcome candidates who can see the big picture as well as the local detail with the ability to switch between each position as the requirement dictates to obtain a holistic view.
- Strong leadership is a critical element of this role, as is the ability to prioritise and manage a workload, analyse complex information, present recommendations, and make effective decisions.
- Post Holders must provide clear direction and focus, visibly championing the changes which deliver greater efficiencies.
- Provide professional, technical and specialist occupational health and safety management advice in the provision of health and safety, including compliance with fire safety obligations, to a range of stakeholders and duty holders.
- Positively influence managers and nominated staff with OHS responsibilities to improve the health and safety culture.
- Post Holders are expected to display a commitment to Continuous Improvement, assisting the Head of Corporate FH&S in leading change, and improving performance. All those appointed to new roles in the team must be wholeheartedly committed to these principles and evidence this in their application.
- To provide managers at all levels information and potential hazards in the working environment and to advise on the appropriate action to be taken to prevent injury to staff or/and loss of buildings and equipment. Establish for senior management ownership and clear accountability, a SMART H&S delivery plan aligned with the Corporate H&S Strategy and plan, including relevant KPI’s.
- Establish and deliver a monitoring strategy, liaising with all core business areas to embed local management and obtain necessary performance and management information to monitor the H&S delivery plan and compliance.
- Co-ordinate audits, inspections, and accident/incident/near miss investigations to determine the underlying causes in order that action to prevent recurrence can be taken and provide information on which to base an opinion on relevant business area inabilities as required.
- Line management responsibilities for Corporate Fire Health and Safety Advisors.
- Establish and build good working relationships with health and safety risk contacts to support and advise on quality risk assessments and risk reporting.
- The senior leadership team expects all leaders within the team to operate in a culture of openness and honesty, demonstrating a commitment to change through involvement and empowerment and by delivering results.
- Regular travel to MoJ HQ and national sites will be required, so a full driving licence is necessary.
- Overnight stays will also be required where business needs require.
