JOB DESCRIPTION:

Shift: First Shift
MGS has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Molding Engineer to join our MGS Germantown team.

The Molding Engineer is responsible for technical support for RFQ/RFPs to meet customer needs as well as MGS’ growth and profitability objectives. Technical support includes plastic injection molded product, tooling, automation/assembly, validation/qualification, and other NRE activities.

  • Thorough comprehension of customer RFQ/RFPs (product specifications, 2D/3D geometry, etc).
  • Define tooling/automation/molding requirements for RFQ/RFPs.
  • Specify tool build requirements (tool type, cavitation, IMM compatibility, shot size/residence time, etc).
  • Assist Estimator in the quoting process with all technical questions.
  • Work independently with Estimator, Project Manager and Sales team on technical questions.
  • Collect and sort estimating data into usable formats for presentation to team and/or customer.
  • Define tooling/automation/molding requirements
  • Read engineering drawings and understand measuring devices.
  • Development DFM/Tech Review documents.
  • Fill outs Feasibility forms and tool build requirement forms.
  • Obtain customer feedback to adjust proposals to maintain competitive offering.
  • Work with Project Manager on transferring information from estimating at the onset of awarded programs.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

A qualified Molding Engineer would fulfill these requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited two-year technical college program, in a related field of study, a four-year university program, in a related field of study.
  • 5-10 years of experience or accrued on-the-job training and experience.
  • Familiarity with plastic injection molding (materials, equipment, operator roles, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Experience with Project or Smartsheet preferred.
  • Knowledge of Creo & Solidworks is preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of automation, metrology, simulations.
