Description:
SUMMARY:
The Monitor Clerk/Tech is responsible for clerical, receptionist, communication, and office supply procurement duties as well as observation of all telemetry units, ICU monitors, and bedside assistance.
- Performs clerical functions including the organization of patient health information, answering telephones, and arranging emergent/non-emergent transportation for patient care.
- Assists in the coordination of the Plan of Care visits between interdisciplinary teams within the ICU or assigned nursing units.
- Provides patient care as assigned by the provider or nurse. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, specimen collection, blood glucose readings, transporting patients, measuring intake and output, electronic documentation, and all other aspects of patient care within the scope of practice.
- Utilizes appropriate interpersonal communication which facilitates productive relationships with other team members.
- Completes annual required competencies.
- Assists with the maintenance and ordering of supplies/equipment.
- Assists with data abstraction for quality improvement projects.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Medical Terminology preferred.
- Basic computer experience required. Knowledge of Windows-based software packages.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent customer satisfaction skills.
- Organized, accurate, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet demands.
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
- Excellent telephone etiquette skills.
- Proper lifting techniques.
REQUIRED LENGTH AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE
- Hospital experience preferred.
