Description:

SUMMARY:

The Monitor Clerk/Tech is responsible for clerical, receptionist, communication, and office supply procurement duties as well as observation of all telemetry units, ICU monitors, and bedside assistance.

  • Performs clerical functions including the organization of patient health information, answering telephones, and arranging emergent/non-emergent transportation for patient care.
  • Assists in the coordination of the Plan of Care visits between interdisciplinary teams within the ICU or assigned nursing units.
  • Provides patient care as assigned by the provider or nurse. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, specimen collection, blood glucose readings, transporting patients, measuring intake and output, electronic documentation, and all other aspects of patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Utilizes appropriate interpersonal communication which facilitates productive relationships with other team members.
  • Completes annual required competencies.
  • Assists with the maintenance and ordering of supplies/equipment.
  • Assists with data abstraction for quality improvement projects.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Medical Terminology preferred.
  • Basic computer experience required. Knowledge of Windows-based software packages.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction skills.
  • Organized, accurate, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet demands.
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette skills.
  • Proper lifting techniques.

REQUIRED LENGTH AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE

  • Hospital experience preferred.
